Lion in a coma.

Based on the song, "Lion in a Coma," by Animal Collective.

Guess what!

Site update... but it's nothing new if you read my blog regularly.

Which is better:

Saturday, December 27, 2008

I've been more active on, and I'm loving all the attention my photos are getting! It's a lot of fun. Here's one from Christmas day... just outside my house.

It's my last Santa, I promise!

Just some drawings before bed. I've been messing around on Flickr all day... otherwise I'd've posted more sketches.

More Santas.

Just some little doodles before I go to my aunt Renee's for Christmas Eve. I'll be posting more frequently... that little break was somewhat due to finals.

No art to be found here.

But if you're interested, I've published another post in my other blog... so you should go read it. I really think I'm going to start writing there more. But anyway... go read! Please?

A sketch before bed.

*sigh* nothing special here.

Feelin' Patriotic?

I got out of class and regretted not bringing my camera, because the trees lining the parking lot looked beautiful. I would've loved to go to Stony until sunset, but going home and coming back would've taken too long. So, I got home and took some shots from my porch. This was my favorite.

I'm really starting to like abstract/patterned photography.

Stupid dog.

This was inspired by the wood grain in the paneling in my basement, believe it or not.

Drawing before work.

A bit of a caricature of Obama... though I wasn't looking at any reference, so the likeness might be a bit off. I was just going by the features that define Obama in my mind.

Accidental TLJ

I was sketching a profile from my imagination, and about halfway through it, Tommy Lee Jones started to show up. It was mostly the nose that did it. I tweaked it a bit, and focused on TLJ's features when finishing it up. I'll probably go back and add some value, but for now, I'm going to post this.

Santa's hideous, for sure.

I'm actually not very excited about it being December... but I needed to write something.

Birthday Renaissance

Here's another photoshop contest entry. The goal is to take a renaissance painting, and add a birthday theme to it. I have another one I want to do, as well. The original is here.

Stupid little Thanksgiving thing.

'Nother rabbit.

I'll be drawing more tonight, but I wanted to make sure I got something posted today.

... and here's another sketch.

More photoshoppin'

The Ed Norton project got me in the mood to do some more photoshopping. I'll probably get some drawing done tonight, too, so don't worry.

Ed: The Finale

Here's the final image that I'm submitting to If you want to see the work in progress, you can click HERE to see an animated .gif of my process. It may take a while to load, since it's large, uncompressed, and contains 7 images.

Hope y'like it!

Ed: Day Two

Bit more progress... I don't need to submit it for another 2 days, so I'll probably push it a bit farther.

Thursday, November 20, 2008

I'm hoppin' back into a photoshop contest, for the first time in a year and 3 days. This is far from finished, but I figured I'd post my progress. The goal is to take young actors/actresses and make them old, or take old actors/actresses and make them young again. Of course I picked Ed... but it's proving to be a bit more difficult than I thought it would be. Oh well, I have a few days to work on it, so I should have plenty of time.

Cowboy dude.

Just a doodle while I waited for a video game to finish downloading.

Monday, November 17, 2008

Couple doodles for Tree.

The first one is a giant candy corn in swim trunks. The second; a skeleton fishing for bones.

Strange creature

Boredom. Not much else to say. =-D

Wednesday, November 12, 2008

Poor li'l bunny.

Loosely based on the work of Luke Chueh. I really need to start painting more.

Site update!

But if you read my blog regularly, then nothing on the site will be new to you.

Check it out anyway!

Trying to redeem myself...

After that Pet Rock and a Pumpkin post, I really needed to post something of some degree of quality. It's not much, but it came out better than I thought it would.

It's kinda based on one of my old gym teachers.

Hey, Lis... check out what time I posted this.

Thursday, November 6, 2008

I spent a few hours at Stony today, and this was the only good shot that I got.

I think I've milked that place for all it's worth... at least until it's blanketed with snow.

Pet Rock and Pumpkin

Just a quick sketch for Tree. I could have made it more interesting... played around with different angles and stuff. BUT! I'm lazy and tired.

Chock full o' Lilah.

LB and I walked out to the front of their apartment complex and I took pictures while she acted as my assistant. It was fun. =-D

I tried going for the old polaroid colors for the third picture. I really like it like that. I didn't like how it looked when I did my usual tweaking, but I dig it now.

Whatchya think?

TLJ updated

I got a tip from someone over on He told me to try to define TLJ's nose and jaw, more... so I did.

I won't be mad if you can't tell a diff between this and the original, but I feel it looks a hundred times better.

Monday, November 3, 2008

There's a site that I used to frequent that I stopped by, today... They're doing a Tommy Lee Jone's jam, so I figured I'd contribute.

I dig it.

Zoo day #3

The weather was great, today, so I went to the zoo. I'm really glad I got a picture of the grizzly, 'cause he'd been sleeping the past two times I went.

OH! and here's something I drew today.

Thursday, October 30, 2008

I love when I get excited about a drawing while I'm drawing it. I was looking at David Philip's online sketchbook (here) and got some inspiration to do another profile sketch. This guy's stuff always makes me want to draw more. I really need to start filling the majority of my free time with drawing.

With this one, I laid down the basic sketch, then added some value with the same sized brush. After I drew the little cartoony guy, I felt like punching up the shadows, so I made the brush bigger, and painted over the shadows I had made before, then did the same for the highlights.

Anyway, I hope you like it.

Seal Beaver Rat

Just some really quick, mindless doodles.

... and a photo from the trip to the cider mill.

Sunday, October 26, 2008

Tryin' to get back into painting.

I just made my pencil-type brush huge, and started painting with it. It's rushed. It's sloppy. It's kinda boring. But it's practice.

Wednesday, October 22, 2008

Hair Sucks.

Some sketches before bed.

Monday, October 20, 2008

Tree comes up with some crazy stuff.

But at least it's all really fun to draw. I might end up coloring this.

Zoo day 2

Above are the pictures that most likely won't make it to my site... I just liked them enough to share them.

And these are the pictures I'm more happy with. I should be back to drawing, tomorrow. Let me know what you think of these!
