Feelin' Patriotic?

I got out of class and regretted not bringing my camera, because the trees lining the parking lot looked beautiful. I would've loved to go to Stony until sunset, but going home and coming back would've taken too long. So, I got home and took some shots from my porch. This was my favorite.

I'm really starting to like abstract/patterned photography.

Obama?

A bit of a caricature of Obama... though I wasn't looking at any reference, so the likeness might be a bit off. I was just going by the features that define Obama in my mind.

Accidental TLJ

I was sketching a profile from my imagination, and about halfway through it, Tommy Lee Jones started to show up. It was mostly the nose that did it. I tweaked it a bit, and focused on TLJ's features when finishing it up. I'll probably go back and add some value, but for now, I'm going to post this.

Santa's hideous, for sure.

I'm actually not very excited about it being December... but I needed to write something.

I'm hoppin' back into a photoshop contest, for the first time in a year and 3 days. This is far from finished, but I figured I'd post my progress. The goal is to take young actors/actresses and make them old, or take old actors/actresses and make them young again. Of course I picked Ed... but it's proving to be a bit more difficult than I thought it would be. Oh well, I have a few days to work on it, so I should have plenty of time.

Trying to redeem myself...

After that Pet Rock and a Pumpkin post, I really needed to post something of some degree of quality. It's not much, but it came out better than I thought it would.

Sunset

I spent a few hours at Stony today, and this was the only good shot that I got.

I think I've milked that place for all it's worth... at least until it's blanketed with snow.

Pet Rock and Pumpkin

Just a quick sketch for Tree. I could have made it more interesting... played around with different angles and stuff. BUT! I'm lazy and tired.

LB and I walked out to the front of their apartment complex and I took pictures while she acted as my assistant. It was fun. =-D

I tried going for the old polaroid colors for the third picture. I really like it like that. I didn't like how it looked when I did my usual tweaking, but I dig it now.

TLJ updated

I got a tip from someone over on www.drawingboard.org. He told me to try to define TLJ's nose and jaw, more... so I did.

I won't be mad if you can't tell a diff between this and the original, but I feel it looks a hundred times better.

Zoo day #3

The weather was great, today, so I went to the zoo. I'm really glad I got a picture of the grizzly, 'cause he'd been sleeping the past two times I went.

OH! and here's something I drew today.

Inspired.

I love when I get excited about a drawing while I'm drawing it. I was looking at David Philip's online sketchbook (here) and got some inspiration to do another profile sketch. This guy's stuff always makes me want to draw more. I really need to start filling the majority of my free time with drawing.

With this one, I laid down the basic sketch, then added some value with the same sized brush. After I drew the little cartoony guy, I felt like punching up the shadows, so I made the brush bigger, and painted over the shadows I had made before, then did the same for the highlights.

Anyway, I hope you like it.

Tryin' to get back into painting.

I just made my pencil-type brush huge, and started painting with it. It's rushed. It's sloppy. It's kinda boring. But it's practice.
